The moment that dissolved iron is exposed to oxygen it oxidizes, which is the orange you find in the toilet tank, around the drain and down the side of the tub. On laundry it sets, and ordinary detergent will not lift it back out once it has.

No, and it usually makes it worse, because bleach oxidizes the iron further and sets the stain. The stain has to be removed with an acid based cleaner, and it will come straight back until the iron is out of the water.
